The Binky Monster

The other night at work I was talking to Denae and Maureen about Malakai turning two. I told him that two year olds are big boys and they don't use binkies or baba's and they go poop and pee on the potty. He of course, put his binky in his mouth, said "Momma baba" and walked away. I don't think it sunk in. So Denae was telling me that when she took Bailey's binkies away she waited until Bailey went to sleep, took all the binkies in the house and threw them away. The next morning when Bailey asked where her binky was Denae told her that the binky monster took it. Denae said Bailey handled it great. She still blames the binky monster when she can't find things. I thought that sounded like a pretty good idea.

So yesterday Malakai comes up to me and says "Where binky go?" I looked at him very seriously and said "I don't know. Maybe the binky monster took it." His eyes got really big and then...TOTAL MELTDOWN!!! I have never seen him so upset. I felt awful, yet I couldn't stiffle a giggle. I told him I was just kidding and like a weenie went and found his binky for him! I think we are going to have to try something else...and fast. The binky epidemic is spreading! Haha.

1st Time Dad

So I was going through my computer and found this video of when Malakai was born. I had almost forgotten about it. Now for you moms you know how out of it you are by the end of labor and I had a LONG labor. The next morning Charlie was showing me the pictures and filming he did in the delivery room. This clip is priceless! You have to have sound when you watch this, pay attention to what charlie says the last 10 seconds or so.

I have never laughed so hard! My favorite part is Charlie's nervous laugh. By the way, his head did not stay that way...He was beautiful. Strange to think how quickly time goes by. Seems like this was just yesterday. How quickly they go from this to this!!!

Maybe it is time for another?!

Fishing

So on Fri the 20th of June I went fishing! This is pretty amazing because I hate fish. They are slimy and stinky and I don't think they taste all that great either. My sister in law Chrystina invited me and Kai to go along with her and her kids. I guess in her ward they have a mom and kids interest group that does fun things (like fishing?!) on fridays. OK, so it wasn't that bad for two reasons. 1) I didn't touch any worms and 2) We didn't catch a thing! If you look closely you'll notice Kai's pole doesn't even have a hook! The place we went was in Midway. It had grass, nice clean restrooms and even a playground so I could distract Kai when he got too interested in the water. Yeah- that was my kind of fishing.

Look at the boy concentrate. He just loved pushing the button and watching the weight sink to the bottom and reeling it back in!

Sabina (6) did catch some nice looking moss. Trevor (3) wasn't so lucky.

About Us

My name is Krista. I am 26 years old. I live in Payson, Ut with my husband Charlie and son Malakai. I am a registered nurse at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. I work on the 6th floor with some of the greatest people EVER! This is me at my nursing school gradutation. I am totally pimping the hat. I love being a mom and being home in Utah. We lived in Twentynine Palms, Ca for 5 years before moving here.

Charlie is active duty Marine Corps, stationed out here on recruiting duty. He has been in for almost 10 years. He has been deployed to Iraq twice. This shot was taken in Iraq while he was patrolling a rooftop. He LOVES this about the Marines. He HATES recruiting, it has caused us a LOT of grief. He can't until this duty is over in Oct. He is ready to deploy and blow stuff up again. (I can wait though...I think life is kind of nice here in the civilian world.)

Malakai is almost 2! July 11 is his birthday. He is an amazing little boy! He loves anything that has wheels and makes loud noises. His favorite things are his daddy's VROOM VROOM, Wy Wy's VROOM VROOM, Uncle Chris' VROOM VROOM and of course Kai Kai's 4 wheeler. He is quite the handful, he has no fear like his dad. Kai is here by me now and he says that he also likes to play with his cousins, "Ti Ti" and "Mone" (Titus and Simone our cats) and go "wimming" (swimming).

Welcome!

Hi! So Maureen and Denae have rubbed off on me and I think I am going to give this blogging thing a shot. It has to be easier than scrapbooking, not that I have tried that to know. So I can't guarantee that this will be updated all the time but I will try.
